A Bridge Across by Dolly Parton, Mark O'Connor & the Nashville Symphony

A Bridge Across was inspired by the life’s work of journalist Daniel Pearl who was kidnapped and murdered in Pakistan in 2002. The song was performed by Dolly Parton, world-renown fiddler Mark O’Connor playing The Daniel Pearl Memorial Violin, and the Nashville Symphony.

Songwriters Tom McBryde and Lynn Wilbanks co-wrote this track for the recently released 64 track, three-disc concept album, "This Is My America", which uses original songs and spoken narratives to chronicle a timeline of significant events that help to shape America’s history. Samantha Robichaud (2005 Daniel Pearl Memorial Violin Recipient) composed, performed and recorded the musical underscore for the narrative track that precedes the song “A Bridge Across”. The narrative is spoken by Dolly Parton. The hope is that this song, and its narrative, will serve to inspire others to continue Daniel’s legacy of bridging differences around the world. www.ThisIsMyAmerica.com

A Bridge Across

A bridge across a question
A journey begins
One step at a time
To a place within.

A bridge across a border
A hand reaching out
One heart at a time
To erase the doubt.

A bridge across a difference
Can close a divide
One song to be sung
on the other side.

The printed score, including the violin obbligato part, is now available from Musicnotes.com. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of sheet music will be donated to The Daniel Pearl Foundation.
