The program for children
The Iraqi Sidar duo plays and sings new edited Iraqi songs and traditional Arabic music for kids and dance pieces that are played with challenging rhythms. These pieces are complemented by interactive German-Arabic songs, which describe in the poetic and funny images the daily life in an Arab family or the dialogue with the animals and nature.
In all of the new arrangements the typical character of the Iraqi keys (Maqam) and oriental rhythms will be preserved. However, the melody for "European ears" and the young audience will be easily accessible.
The duo Sidar, which means "cap" or "boat cap," is named after a typical hat, worn just in Baghdad.
