Jessica Emery is a 16 year old Junior, born and raised in Tyler, Texas, who has a passion for life and all that is in it. She expresses her joy through her artistic talents in music and dance. At the age of 7 Jessica started playing classical violin and at the age of 9 she started the piano as well. She attends Robert E. Lee High school and has held the position of Concertmistress in their top orchestra. She has been competing in TMEA All Regional Orchestra competitions since 2005, and in 2007 was selected as the Concertmistress for the East Texas Regional Middle School Orchestra. In 2008 - 2009, Jessica received second chair in the High School All Region Orchestra and received a first division rating in the UIL Region and State Solo and Ensemble Competitions for both solo and quartet performances. She has participated in Stephen F. Austin State University’s Honors Orchestra, the Piney Woods Camerata, and has been attending Stephen F. Austin State University and Texas Tech University Summer Camps since she was 9. Most recently, Jessica was named Concertmistress for the High School Orchestra at the 2009 Stephen F. Austin State University Summer Camp. After attending the Mark O’Connor Fiddle Camp for the first time in 2008 in Nashville, Tennessee, Jessica became interested in other styles of fiddle as well and now enjoys learning Texas Swing, Appalachian, and Bluegrass styles. Currently, she is a member of the Texas Swing Fiddlers, an extracurricular group within her school, and performs in school, service, and community events in the area. In addition to playing violin and piano, Jessica also dances in ballet and jazz styles and is currently a senior soloist with Ballet Tyler. She has performed major roles in ballets such as Cinderella, Peter Pan, Christmas Ballet, Beauty and the Beast, and Snow White, and a major role in a jazz production of Cats. Along with all the extracurricular activities, Jessica is in the International Baccalaureate program at her school and continues to excel in academics, especially science and math. She participated in science fairs from 2005-2008 and has won multiple awards at the Region and State Science Fair levels. Jessica loves to be involved in and outside of school, and most of all loves to bring happiness in people’s hearts no matter what she does.
