Koleurz is a combination of ethnicities , the language Ibo(Nigerian) , French and English.THE NAME KOLEURZ ORIGINATES FROM THE VERSATILITY AND COMBINATION OF HER MUSICAL KNOWLEDGE AND HERITAGE.
KOLEURZ IS AFFILIATED WITH THE 7 COLORS OF THE RAINBOW AND THEIR ABILITY TO MERGE INTO A SPECTRUM OF STRENGTH , SPIRITUALITY AND GROWTH. SHE IS NOT ONLY LIMITED TO MUSIC, ACTING, POETRY, DANCE AND FASHION DESIGN ARE ALSO SOME OF HER PASSION.
Koleurz who is a Nigerian -American artist has come from singing in a church choir, being a minor in the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) Adult Choir in the 80’s to performing at various arenas in the United States. Koleurz in 2002 collaborated with a couple of artists/entertainers to put together showcases, fashion shows etc in Long Island,Queens and NewYork City . In 2003/2004 She went on to producing and hosting her own Public access show on Cablevision channel 20 (W.E.I.TV)where she hosted celebrities like Cassidy, Black Rob , Angie Martinez, Bobby Valentino etc. During all this her love for song writing never seized she wrote songs stayed in the back ground as a promoter.
As Time went by she performed in some popular venues(Jacob Javits Center,Westbury Music Center,etc) and opened for a few artists like Yolanda Adams , McLite (Pantene Pro-v tour).She performed in the Funk Master Flex Unsigned Artists CD/DVD ,Lea Greenwood project for Channel 11(wpix) ,1st NEA (Nigerian Entertainment Awards (Maryland) Received “The Help Make A Dream Come True” Award from SGIB Magazine Long Island 2007 to name a few. Also In 2006 she released her 1st Album signed then to Elegant Records(Indie label) Long Island introducing her style (cross over afrojazz ,afroton, RnB, gospel) and versatility to the world and has since been receiving great responses.She performs either solo or with her 7piece band and combines different forms of music with African Language , still retaining her cultural background.She recently performed at the Brooklyn Caribbean Youth Festival(Sponsored in part by the Jamaican Embassy), Apollo theater for the SacAids Award honoring Patti Labelle, Alyson Williams, Rochas Okorocha, Regan Hoffman, Princess Ita Giwa , Patience Ozokwor (Mama G Nollywood African Movies), Also a guest at the American Friends of Jamaica Gala (Gotham Hall NYC)honoring former ‘World Heavyweight Champion Lennox Lewis. She performs with the Hope Restoration Community Outreach, Shades of Ebony Kulture , reaching out with music ,education and good will to families and youths in need.
Currently she is working on her 2nd Album titled “TRUE STORIES” which is due for release in Summer 2009.The Hit single “U Won’t Put Me Down” from the album is currently making waves. Koleurz remains humble , spiritual, tireless and always ready to evolve to the next level ,staying positive and lending a hand to youths in the community. She currently resides in NewYork.
