Based out of Texasís finest music and arts city, but with hometowns littered across the United States, the Belleville Outfit serves up a truly unique mix of gypsy swing, big band jazz, and roots Americana. Both innovative in their combining of genres, and true to their musical roots, the Belleville Outfit, though young, has already solidified itself as a tour-de-force in the world of acoustic music.
Formed in early 2006, the group came together when singer-songwriter Rob Teter, drummer Jonathan Konya, and pianist Connor Forsyth decided to combine their Appalachian roots with the traditional jazz they heard pouring out of the New Orleans clubs. The trio joins Marshall Hood, a young lead guitarist who shares the creative yet sensitive songwriting skills of his uncle Champ, as well as Austinís own violinist and vocalist Phoebe Hunt who brings a seductively innocent female nature to the group. Completed by charm of Jeff Brown and his upright Bass, this group has charisma and steam that cross genres and win over every audience.
The group has shared stages with such prestigious musicians as Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder, Junior Brown, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, The Del McCoury Band, The Duhks, Mark OíConnor, The Waybacks, and Ellis Marsalis. Also, in April 2007, the group also joined a list of extremely talented and prestigious artists, featuring the likes of Elvis Costello, Allison Krauss, and good friends, the Waybacks, at Merlefest, an annual music festival held in Wilkesboro, NC. In the past months, the group has been selling out shows all up and down the east coast, and all the way through Texas.
Though the band members are themselves young, (with the eldest being 23), the bandís quick maturation in sound and dedication is startling, and considering how far theyíve come, itís exciting to hear how much further they can go.
