Samba Masala is one of the hottest and the coolest youth percussion band in Singapore. Be it pulsating rhythms or the smooth and sexy Latin groove, the fusion Asian/Brazilian percussion band from Singapore Management University (SMU) will get anyone moving with its inimitable music, style and sheer showmanship. Samba Masala’s winning recipe of hot music and high energy performances has brought it to the pinnacle of performing arts. Samba Masala has been impressing audiences from both within SMU and the general public for the past 2 years. From their first trip to the United States in 2007 where they had a musical exchange session with UCLA's batULCAda to having workshops with renowned percussionists such as Carlinhos Pandeiro de Ouro, Lula Almeida and Raynor Carroll. They were also featured on the Morning Show on Spanish Channel 34 and performed at UCLA's annual spring concert alongside with batUCLAda. In 2008, Samba Masala was invited to Ireland to perform in the 15th Drogheda Samba Festival where we played with bands such as the Unidos Samba Band from the Isle of Wight. Rated as one of Europe's top three Samba festival, Samba Masala also broke new grounds by being the first Samba band from the Far East and the biggest to ever participate in the festival. Samba Masala also had the privilege to learn from the instructors from the London School of Samba when they headed over to London after the festival.
