Steve Berman realized he needed to play music at the Woodstock Festival in 1969, and picked up a harmonica hitch hiking home. His first lesson was in 2007. Steve learned the mbira / African thumb piano in 1975 while serving in the Peace Corp. He moved to Los Angeles in 1990, where he is proud to have performed at several Daniel Pearl memorial concerts.
Steve and Sandy Lessner were married in 2010. They can be found joyously singing and playing in the Makom Ohr Shalom Choir, the Santa Monica Traditional Folk Music Club, and at lots of Songmaker hootenanies.
