As a professional musician working in a competitive industry, Tim Thompson has learned to play his strengths in more than one area of the business. Not only is he considered a guitar virtuoso and talented singer/songwriter, heís also a much sought after independent producer and session player. With Thompsonís latest self-produced release, FACES, his thoughtful arrangements of such contemporary jazz classics, Naima (Coltrane), and Tones For Joanís Bones (Chick Corea) are innovative and inspiring. This new collection also includes some of Tim Thompsonís own distinctive instrumental compositions.
In addition to the guitar Tim plays a little mandolin. He says he has been playing the guitar since he was 12 years old. He got his first guitar from his older brother, Denny. It was an old Sears Airline Guitar with the amp built into the case. His brother had paid $25 for the instrument. For hobbies Tim likes to travel with his wife and two children. His 13-year-old son, Myles is becoming a reputable fiddle player.
