Biography:
Born in El Paso, Texas in 1959, Jeri Marie Hallberg is the daughter of Swedish American and Mexican American parents Jerry Hallberg and Maria Tamez. Granddaughter of pioneer aviators Jack Dale and Norma Elaine Baker Hallberg, Jeri was trained since her early youth in the humanities and fine arts. Inspired by her mother's artwork, and the publishing in the early nineteen fortie's of her paternal ggrandmother's music and poetry, Jeri continued a Liberal Arts and Applied Science formal education. An advocate of women and children's rights Ms. Hallberg began writing at a very young age. Her fantasies blended earth, anthropomorphisism and morals akin to Aesop with acrylic work and pencil and ink drawings. Ms. Hallberg studied Allied Health and Education. Her focus on Special Needs populations inspired her to complete formal training, passing Texas exams in that field for teacher certification in the kindergarden through twelfth grade levels. Further, Hallberg is considered by No Child Left Behind legislation to be designated as " highly qualified" to teach health, k-12; English all levels and elementary school. Hallberg is a community advocate and has volunteered for over 20 years with the American Red Cross, Boy Scouts of America, The El Paso Jewish Federation, El Paso Health Department, El Paso Library collaborative and El Paso and Ysleta School Districts.Additionally, Ms. Hallberg taught art to low income and at risk populations under the hospices of the El Paso Parks and Recreation Community Development Grants. Her native wildlife and flora acrylic murals were placed in the" Secret Garden" at Pebble Hills Elementary School, She is a current recipient (through the von Schiller Homeschool) of the National Endowment for the Humanities "Picturing America" program.Of which she has shared those resources with Mrs. Dana Moulden of Eastwood High School, La Fe Preperatory School, Ms. Beth Kurland of Da Vinci Charter School and NortheastChildren's Educational Enrichment Center. Her latest endevour has been donated artwork, further promoting Daniel Pearl Music Days' theme of World Peace via her mixed media "Woman of Peace" for Avance an El Paso non profit Parent education initiative in El Paso, Texas. Currently, Ms. Hallberg is finishing her Master of Education degree with an emphasis on Communication studies/ Reading Instruction Specialist studies at The University of Texas at El Paso. Concurrently she is conducting research on aviator biographies for her next opus. Her research and efforts are further focused in the araes of chemistry, science and math reading comprehension strategies as they are presented in early childhood. Ms. Hallberg utilizes the study and applicability of aviation, aeronautics and avionics as a vehicle to complete this objective.An avid student aviatrix, she promotes the participation of area youth in the Young Eagles program and science/math literacy programs.Ms. Hallberg is an advocate of the Summerhill, Montessorri methods, Plutarch , Aristotilian and Socratic schools of thought. A free thinker,creationist and Scientist, she plans to pursue her doctorate in Education.Mother of two, Angela Mari, 19 and John Robert 8, Hallberg collaborates with outstanding aviator, Waldo Emerson Cavender Jr. in her research. As of May 2011, Ms. Hallberg has begun her study of Judaica, advocated for pro life, studied and researched aeronautics and aviation programs for young children. According to Olympia Schwartz of the University of Texas at El Paso Graduate Studies Graduate School, Ms. Jeri Marie Hallberg Harmon has been certified as completing all the requirements for the Master of Education, Instruction Specialist degree. Ms. Hallberg's focus has been on Communication Studies. She quotes: "an all encompassing field which includes intra,extra personal communication, special needs assistive communication, satellite, telepathic, etc..". She plans to begin her Doctorate degree as soon as possible.Ms. Hallberg owes her success to her faith in God, her friends and family and the benevolence of the human race.It is noted that Barrio Azteca female mixed media painting was a collaboration between Hallberg and AngelaMari Firewalker.
