The Live Act Folk is interpreting well known and also rarely played Hungarian folksongs with a beatbox, guitar, bass and violin accompaniment in a style which puts the traditional sound together with elements of jazz, hip-hop, gipsy music and electronic music.
As the winners of a competition organized by the Hungarian Cultural Institute in Paris, they represented Hungary 21 June 2007 in Paris on the Fête de la Musique. They were one of the three groups chosen from 127 applicants.
Their first album was released in 2009 by the publisher Fonó Budai Zeneház. The songs featured on the album are mostly based on the musical universe of the Transylvanian, Moldvan and Transdanubian regions. The listener can hear well known tunes like “Spring breeze” and “Night is fallin’, Dusk is growin’”, but the style is not at all common. The interpretation of Live Act Folk ventures in rhythms and patterns of Latin, swing or even R&B which are harmonized with the Hungarian Folk music.
The group has been giving concerts for four years now, all over Hungary, but also abroad. They have played in France and Serbia, and they have received very honorable invitations in 2011. For the Occasion of the Hungarian EU Presidency, they have had the honor to be the official music group invited to celebrate the Europe Day organized by the Hungarian Representative Office in Palestine, with four performances on different venues, the last of which was the central reception of the EU representatives.
