Biography:
Ofer Golany was born in Jerusalem to an Iraqi father and a Polish mother. At 4 his family moved to a kibbutz and at 9 to America's university towns. Ofer started guitar at 12 with Jewish prophets Dylan Simon and Cohen. At 16 he returned to Israel university and 4 years in the army...realized he'd been used....off to India Thailand Nepal and back to teach in the Lifta highschool. Studied acting... avoided the military...taught at the Nisui school.... Boston to study music therapy...still chased by an inept military...recorded Postcards from San Francisco and Sometimes He Sings Sometimes He Just Plays Guitar after 7 summers on the streets of Switzerland Germany Denmark and Holland collecting a 360 song repertoire married a Dutch princess and recorded Alive and Living in Holland. While the princess studied international law Ofer performed and recorded jazz and klezmer with saxophonist Chris Corstens. 1994 they emigarted to Jerusalem -center- holy of hallelujas - the rebuilt Jerusalem opposite the Mamila pool. Since 2000 Ofer recorded a CD every year using JERUSALEMAN since 2002, advising why & how to avoid the military. Jerusaleman's outspokeness hasn't garnered favor with military radio but www.allforpeace.org has welcomed AKHOTKHA (literally: your sister) Jerusaleman turned to theater and cabaret. Since 2009 AKHOTKHA performs once a month in Jerusalem where Ofer performs weekly with duo BAKTANA. With Nazereth Christian Arabs as trio Musicians4Peace tours Europe yearly and as Conspiracy of Love with German Cellist Anglika Wagener or Berlin-Jerusalem spiritual cabaret with Yael Schueler he is once (or twice) a year in Germany.
