The Israel Chamber Orchestra, founded in 1965 by the late Maestro Gary Bertini, is one of the cornerstones of Israel's cultural life. Maestro Bertini, who served as the orchestra's Music Director in its first decade, emphasized the orchestra's pledge to inventiveness and excellence in playing, in programming and in music education.
The orchestra’s current Music Director is Maestro Yoav Talmi who also holds the title of Conductor Emeritus of the Quebec Symphony, Canada and Head of Orchestral Conducting Department at the Buchman-Mehta School of Music, Tel Aviv University.
The Israel Chamber Orchestra performs widely both in Israel and abroad, with the best international and Israeli soloists and conductors.
The orchestra motivates the appreciation and enjoyment of the unique chamber-orchestra repertoire in Israel.
It promotes international repertoire of all eras while advancing the creation, development and production of Israeli works.
Next to world-class international musicians it advances Israeli artists and encourages innovative educational and outreach programs that attract and serve new audiences for classical music, including young audiences.
