Biography:
The Transcontinental Blues Band was formed in the spring of 2009. The members are Randy "Freight Train" Wayne on lead guitar and vocals, Mama B on guitar and vocals, Laurence Deslauriers on bass and backup vocals, and Don Sproule on drums. They play a variety of electric blues and cover many artists from Memphis Minnie, Etta James, Koko Taylor and Ruth Brown to B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Howling Wolf and more. Freight Train and Mama B are steadily adding their own original songs to the mix. The Transcontinental Blues Band plays at a few local bars in Saskatoon and have gained even more momentum since they opened at the 2010 Blues Festival for Omar and the Howlers. They had a very positive response from Saskatoon blues lovers. They look forward to seeing their fans on the dance floor, chair dancing, or simply grooving to their special mix of blues.
