Donna Apidone's first visit to a radio studio was at age 14, when she visited a family friend who worked at a station. "From then on, I was hooked." After working in commercial radio and corporate public relations, Donna discovered the joys of public radio. She has been an announcer and fundraiser at public stations since 1988. For two years, she also worked as an editor and trainer for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and worked with stations around the country.
Donna came to Capital Public Radio in 1998 and has hosted Morning Edition since 2001. Since early 2009, she has also hosted the midday classical show on CapRadio Music. She hosts quarterly author interviews for CapRadio Reads.
From studio to stage, Donna often emcees performances, conferences and other events in the area. She also performs several spoken-word pieces with musicians each year.
In 2014, Donna published TransForMission, a manual for living and working with intention. She is now writing a novel that touches on history, energy and doing the right thing.
Donna's undergraduate degree is from Ohio University, with graduate work at Kent State University. She is a certified life coach, and she is a graduate of an interfaith seminary in New York.
