Biography:
Zemer Chai, whose name means "living song," is dedicated to sharing the rich musical heritage of the Jewish people. Founded by conductor Eleanor Epstein in 1976, the choir sings the full range of the Jewish choral repertoire, including liturgical, folk music, and newly commissioned works. Praised by the Washington Post for singing “passionately with utter precision," Zemer Chai has appeared throughout Washington, and in New York, Boston, Philadelphia and Israel. Serving as a bridge to the larger community, Zemer Chai attracts audience members of many cultures and participates in numerous interfaith events. The choir’s recording of world Jewish folk songs, Same Earth Same Sky, is available at www.zemerchai.org
